Few people know,
because I am a “word of mouth” advertiser, that I own River Roads
Bed and Breakfast just outside of Glenns Ferry, Idaho. For more
information, please check out the website.
When I first saw the home we eventually purchased, I thought “This
would make a lovely B&B.” And since we didn’t need the
master suite, I decided to give it a try. Eventually when we built
the barn, I commandeered my portion for an additional room for
guests. You can sleep in the log house or in the barn, your choice.
Staying with us used
to be a full farm experience with cows, a horse, goats, and chickens,
as well as cats and dogs. Unfortunately we have downsized in the
last couple of years, But you still get fresh farm eggs for
breakfast thanks to the “girls” with whom you share the barn.
And we have greeting cat, wild ducks and geese and deer that wander
through on any given day.
You can sit in the
hot tub and enjoy the view, or relax on the large cowboy porch and
watch the river go by. In season there are wild blackberries to
pick, always fresh eggs on your plate, and good company in the
kitchen. I am afraid I am spoiled with having such wonderful guests
over the years from all over the United States and a number of
foreign countries. It has been wonderful to be the “armchair
traveler” and hear about so many interesting places on a personal
level. But our special treat is when guests return for additional
visits, because then they are considered family!
Breakfast will fill
your tummy until supper. I admit that I tend to over do it, but I
don’t want you going away hungry! Always on the menu are farm
fresh eggs and homemade jams and jellies, plus the standard breakfast
fare of bacon, ham or sausage, waffles or french toast, and fresh
fruit. On occasion you get a surprise! All of this comes with great
conversation and some occasional story telling. We do enjoy your
company!
So I can take this
in any number of directions from here. And perhaps I will, given
time. I could indulge in “stories” of my guests (all good – no
worries), or I might describe what I have the pleasure of viewing
from my porch on any given day, or I could even solicit or share some
breakfast recipes. Only time will tell.
Just writin’ on
the river road.
